Dermal Clinicians Share Their Personal Skincare Routines

If anyone knows how to keep their skin healthy and youthful-looking, it’s a Dermal Clinician whose education, training and daily professional experience revolves around skin. We asked five Dermal Clinicians, including one who’s also a new mum, to share the skincare routines that they use at home, themselves to keep their skin healthy, youthful and bright.

It’s so important to me to get up each morning, exercise, have a shower and perform a skincare routine. We don’t want those blackheads forming! You will also feel so fresh and confident to go through the challenges of each day!

Morning Routine

I like to start each day with using my RejuvAus C2 Gentle AHA Exfoliating Gel Cleanser & Toner to wash my face of any impurities and oils from my sleep – this also allows my serums to be better infused as they have a clean canvas to go on to.

Next, I use my RejuvAus S1+ ABC Antioxidant Serum. This serum refines my pores around my T Zone and helps to give me more of a brighter complexion

To finish I use M1 Super Moisturising UV Lotion, also from RejuvAus. Even though I’m indoors most of the day, I always use a sunscreen as you are still exposed to ultraviolet rays through your windows and certain light bulbs. UV rays are harmful to your skin and they can cause signs of ageing.

M1 Super Moisturising UV Lotion has sunscreen in it without being too thick. I always feel like my skin is hydrated and protected for my day, and it offers protection from the UV rays from our lights and from the sun!

Night-time Routine

I cleanse my face with C2 Gentle AHA Exfoliating Gel cleanser to remove all impurities from the day. It’s so important to cleanse at night, even if you are not wearing makeup throughout the day, as this can help remove all the dirt and oils that build up.

I also like to apply the Dr Aspect Fruit Enzyme Mask. This mask is amazing for lifting and removing dead skin cells and well as revealing a brighter and smoother complexion. I gently massage this mask into my skin and leave it on for a about 10 minutes and then remove it with a clean towel. I use this mask twice a week before I go to sleep.

After my mask I love to apply either my S6 Clarifying Serum or my Super B Brightening & Hydration Serum. When I feel more congested I use the Clarifying Serum, and when I feel like my skin is dry I love using the Super B.

When I apply my serums, I always like to apply in an upwards motion. We have pores all over our body and every single pore in our skin actually has a hair follicle coming out of it. If you take a look at every single hair on your face, most of them are pointing out and slightly downwards, so by applying the serum upwards, you’re actually applying the serum straight in to those pores more readily, which is great as it allows for better absorption.

I then use my E2 i-Active Dark Circles & Fine Lines eye serum. This serum is amazing as it helps to reduce dark circles and puffiness, as well as providing hydration. Your eyes look so bright when you wake up in the morning!

After applying my chosen serums, I like to apply my M2 Ultralight Skin Repair Moisturising Cream. This offers me ultimate hydration without being too thick. It has plenty of antioxidants and active ingredients to stimulate collagen and protect my skin’s barrier.

I also like to ensure I’m changing my pillowcase 3-4 times a week to ensure my skin always has a clean surface to sleep on, and I aim to drink 2-3 litres of water a day

Expert tip
When working long hours on a computer, without realising, many of us will be resting our hand on our face. Try to resist this temptation. My tip is to always rest your hand on or behind your ear so you are not stretching your skin!

My skin care routine as a mum with a 9 month old needs to be fast and effective. There is no time for trial and error. There are times when a toilet break is a luxury. The play dates are long and the naps are short, so I need to be ready.

Morning Routine

The first step to kickstart my day involves cleansing with Rejuvaus C2 Mild Exfoliating Gel. I use this in the mornings because it’s super hydrating and refreshing. It makes me feel ready for the early starts with my little one, especially the 5am wake ups! It is full of natural hydrating and restoring ingredients. Some of my favourites, to name a few, are Organic Manuka Honey, Jojoba Oil and Aloe. This gel cleanser smells beautiful and feels lovely on the skin, and it foams up efficiently.

After that I apply my Super B Brightening & Hydrating serum. It absorbs very quickly and does not feel sticky or heavy on my skin. It promotes collagen, skin firmness and hydration all in one. I only need a quick single pump and I can even apply it down to my neck areas.

Lastly, I use the RejuvAus M1 Super Moisturising UV Lotion. Again, only 1 pump works well enough for me to get through the day. A must during winter and summer, it’s a physical UV block that is also a primer under make-up, another great time-saving product. It has 2 key sun blocking ingredients, Invisible Zinc 18% and Titanium Dioxide 18%, as well as collagen-building peptides and it’s full of anti-oxidants to nourish and protect my skin during my busy day ahead.

Night-time Routine

At the end of a jam-packed day, I make sure to take care of my skin by cleansing with the C3 Purify Deep AHA Exfoliating Gel. I choose to use this cleanser at night to give me a deeper, more exfoliating cleanse, especially if I have worn make-up or it has been a really busy day. It’s a cleanser and toner all in one which is another time-saving bonus, it is also gel based and foams up nicely with only a very small amount needed, so it’s quick to wash off. It has at least 6 active exfoliating ingredients working at the same time for extra efficiency.

Secondly, I apply my S1 ABC Repair & Restore Antioxidant Serum. It has Kakadu Plum extract, which is the richest source of Vitamin C to help with brightening and redness. Retinaldehyde, the strongest form of safe and non- irritating Vitamin A, helps improve collagen and lost volume, reduces over production of oil and decreases fine lines. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) helps with my hydration, reduces pigmentation and makes my skin feel smoother and brighter. Again, only a quick single pump application to improve my skin texture, pores and fine lines.

Lastly, I use my Rejuvaus M2 Ultralight Skin Repair Moisturising Cream. It has Hyaluronic Acid for added moisture, Coenzyme Q-10 for skin health, Acetyl Octapeptide-3 for wrinkle reduction and nourishing minerals and natural antioxidants. I like to apply all the way down to my neck and only a small amount is needed. It feels light and non-greasy and smells beautiful.

Sometimes, our schedules change and our routines get out of whack. It is still important that we’re all looking after our skin properly. You can get into a routine that doesn’t take much time, so there’s no excuse to slack off!

My first step to maintaining a healthy skincare routine is to drink PLENTY and plenty of water! Water does absolute wonders for the skin – drinking water combined with a good skincare routine will result in healthier and clearer skin!

Morning Routine

Every morning when I wake up, my go to is the C2 Gentle AHA Exfoliating Cleanser & Toner from RejuvAus. I like to wash my face with this every morning to remove any oil or dirt from my sleep, it leaves my skin fresh and clean for the next step of my skin routine.

After I cleanse my face, I like to use S3 Collagen Peptide Pores & Fine Lines Serum as it contains a number of different collagen peptides and growth factors that help increase cell turnover resulting in fresh new cells leaving my skin glowing and healthy!

After I apply my S3 Collagen Peptide serum, I love to pop on my M1 Super Moisturising UV Lotion, I love using this product each morning due to it being a 3 in 1 moisturiser, sunblock and a great makeup base! I always make sure I am wearing a physical sunscreen during the day which is why I love the M1. Although I spend most of my time indoors, I still like to go for a walk during the day and I like to get a bit of sun exposure each day so it is important I am always wearing sunscreen to protect my skin.

Night-time Routine

Each night before bed, I cleanse with C2 Gentle AHA Exfoliating Cleanser to remove any makeup or impurities from the skin. Even if I’m not wearing makeup that day, it is still important to give your skin a good cleanse to remove any oil built up on the skin.

Next, I apply S1 ABC Repair & Restore Antioxidant Serum. I love this product as my skin is getting all 3 vitamins A, B and C in just one serum! This serum is super hydrating for my skin so I don’t always need to use a moisturiser afterwards which is great! I feel as if my pores aren’t as large since using this serum and it has given me a much brighter and smoother complexion.

Finally, I use my E2 i-Active Dark Circles & Fine Lines Eye Serum. I love this product as it contains Vitamin K and helps to reduce dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. Since using this product, I wake up looking much brighter and smoother under the eyes!

Expert Tip

I know it can be tough to maintain a good skincare routine, especially if you have a lot of other things on your mind, but trust me, if you start doing it every day, it will become second nature!
With the right products, you will love how your skin looks and feels each day. It will be so healthy and glowing, you won’t want to turn back!

I have combination skin, which is dry with some oil and congestion in the T-zone. I always keep my skincare routine consistent, even on days when I’m not wearing makeup as I’ll still take the time to go outside each and every day (this means my skin is exposed to environmental pollutants) and also throughout the day I may touch my face without realising, leaving bacteria on my skin.

My morning routine is the same as at night. I believe consistency is what works best for my skin.

Morning and Night-time Routine

Step 1: C2 Gentle AHA exfoliating Gel Cleanser
I love this product because it contains lactic acids that exfoliate and hydrate the skin, and up to 9 different medical grade actives and antibacterial properties. Perfect for me as it thoroughly cleanses the skin of debris and makeup.

Step 2: S6 Clarifying Serum (S6)
Exfoliating serum to help with clogged pores and shifting those dead skin cells. Vital in my skin care routine as my main concern is T- Zone area and this prevents me from getting a further build up.

Step 3: S1 ABC Antioxidant Serum
My skin’s shot of the essential vitamins, antioxidants and anti-inflammatories.

Step 5: E2 i-Active Dark Circles & Fine Lines Eye Serum
Contains many actives such as Vitamin A, Collagen Peptides, Arnica and Vitamin K, which give me the ultimate protection to repair and restore any pigmentation and prevent dark circles and fine lines.

Step 4: M1 Super Moisturising UV Lotion (morning) or M3 Ultra Rich Skin Repair Moisturising Cream (night)
I use SPF in the mornings to protect my skin, and this particular lotion also contains hyaluronic acid, so I feel nice and hydrated throughout the day. In the evenings I apply a rich cream moisturiser as it has lots of therapeutic properties to keep my skin nice and plump.

Expert Tip

Lately, I have been including a SuperShot into my diet which is a natural super food blend that contains ingredients to help nurture the gut bacteria. It has been proven that a healthy gut bacterium can help reduce inflammation in the body which can, in turn, help improve the appearance of skin.

I believe it’s important to keep a routine in my everyday life, and part of that includes looking after my skin.

Morning Routine

I start my day with a SuperShot 30 min before my breakfast to help my immune system but also help me balance my skin.

C1 Mild Exfoliating Gel Cleanser is a product that I really cannot stop using as I personally find that it helps clear congestion, but it also helps to hydrate my skin. Manuka Honey is one of the ingredients and I love the smell.

S3 Collagen Peptide Pores & Fine Lines Serum is one of my favourite products as it helps to maintain my skin and its new collagen cells after having an Ultraformer treatment. I combine it with S2 Whitening & Brightening to also keep my skin tone even and bright.

I always apply M1 Super Moisturising UV Lotion before my morning walk. I love this product, it’s a good primer for my makeup, it’s not thick and I love that it doesn’t clog my pores like other sun protection lotions do.

For makeup, I prefer a loose mineral powder, nothing too heavy.

Night-time Routine

C1 Mild Exfoliating Gel Cleanser to remove my makeup and any oils that built up on my skin during the day.

S7 AB Repair & Restore Antioxidant Serum is one of the principals of my routine because it has Vitamin A to help accelerate cell turnover and manage the natural oils in my skin. It also provides hydration with Hyaluronic Acid.

E2 i-Active Rx Dark Circles & Fine Lines Vitamin A Serum provides good anti-ageing specifically for the area around my eyes.

Expert Tip

I drink 2 litres of water a day to keep my skin hydrated, and I sometimes add some lemon or cucumber to the bottle for a fresh flavour without the sugar.
