Combining Body Sculpting Treatments For Visible “Wow” Effects!

January 25, 2016

Body Sculpting is becoming a popular trend in reducing body fat that helps patients go that extra mile to achieve a shape they cannot attain through diet and exercise only.

Dr Garry Cussell of Rejuvenation Clinics of Australia in Sydney has years of experience in body sculpting and is highly knowledgeable in available treatments. Having treated hundreds of patients, Dr Cussell knows the key concern when it comes to body sculpting procedures: “Guided by the idea that extreme precision allows us to achieve the best results, we have developed Body Sculpting as a series of complementing treatments.”

In other words, at Rejuvenation Clinics of Australia, Body Sculpting is a fat removal procedure that combines various technologies to get you in shape quickly, painlessly and with utmost attention to detail.

Fat freezing & ultrasound skin tightening

Fat Freezing is a simple and effective treatment to remove the stubborn “rolls” of fat. The fat and fat cells are removed through processes such as freezing and crystallising, without causing any damage to the skin.

A fat freezing session will remove about 25% of the fat that is sucked into a suction cup. The treatment effectively and permanently destroys fat cells but it does not improve skin tightening. In fact, by reducing the fat distension under the skin, the skin usually becomes looser.

Dr Cussell explains, “For this reason, we recommend combining fat freezing treatments with ultrasound skin tightening beforehand.”

The ultrasound treatment reduces fat at different depths where the different transducers concentrate the ultrasound energy. Consequently, it is better to do ultrasound skin tightening first.

The ultrasound produces tightening of the skin through two different mechanisms:

  1. An immediate contraction of the protein fibres that make up the collagen network.
  2. A gradual production of additional collagen over the next six months. This is achieved through heat stimulation resulting in growth factor release, which in turn stimulates the multiplication of additional collagen-producing cells (fibroblasts).

Using the ultrasound treatment and combining it with a freezing treatment not only permanently destroys the fat cells but also produces a secondary deep wound injury, which may add to new collagen production.

Tip: Following the treatment, there is no ongoing swelling or obvious skin changes or any residual discomfort whatsoever. The procedure can be followed by fat freezing immediately or the following day.

Following the fat freezing procedure, the treated area can be tender and present a bit of bruising for several days and, in some cases, for several weeks. Dr Cussell explains that this is why the ultrasound treatment should be performed first.

Fat freezing destroys fat in relatively small areas where the applicators can suck in and freeze a particular “roll” or area of fat. However, what can you do if the amount of fat you want to remove is significantly larger?

Microcannula Liposculpture & Ultrasound Ultraformer

Where there is excessive fat, it is more appropriate to perform Microcannula Liposculpture, which is a form of liposculpture that uses a tiny cannula with a diameter of 0.9 mm to 2.5 mm. This is the gentlest and most precise form of liposculpture that is in demand for removing fat and sculpting your body.

The procedure’s aim is to redefine your body’s contour. It was invented by Dr Jeffrey Klein, who wanted to achieve excellent cosmetic results with short post-procedure recovery time.

“Microcannula Liposculpture removes more fat from a much bigger area than Fat Freezing and does it more evenly too,” says Dr Cussell. “Because of the cannula, we have 100% control of the fat that is being removed.”.

The procedure results in skin strengthening and tightening over a period of time due to the collagen contraction and strengthening effect. In this case, it is better to do the ultrasound skin tightening and strengthening after the Liposculpture procedure.

After Liposculpture, it takes several weeks for the fluid oedema to resolve. A follow-up ultrasound treatment helps to resolve fluid oedema further and to soften and prevent any thickening or hardening of the areas involved. It assists in tightening and strengthening of the skin as well as further reduction of the most superficial areas of any residual fat remaining.
