Wear glasses? Here are our eye makeup tips

February 6, 2015

It’s come to my attention that those who wear glasses are neglected with it comes to do with eye make up. For that, I apologise for any inconvenience and as a result, I’ve written a post dedicated to this very topic.  Here are our eye makeup tips for those who wear specs.

1. When using and choosing shadow, keep the eyelid fresh and bright

Avoid any dark shades, the darkest you should go is a semi-dark eyeshadow such as brown or burgundy. Steer away from greys or cool blues as it’ll make your eyes look tired and washed out. Instead, opt for neutral colours such as gold, light bronzes and taupes for natural look. I highly recommend the Jane Iredale PurePressed® Eye Shadows – Brown Sugar palette as its a neutral palette which is suitable for work or play.

Make you use something pink and brightening like Jane Iredale Highlighter Pencil in white pink under the brow to make the eyes look bigger. The idea here is to make you look awake, fresh and pretty.

2. Make sure you groom those brows

As the top of your glasses sits just below your brows, be sure it’s groomed at all times. Many neglect the brows because they think the frames often cover the brows. Wrong! Keep your brows in place using a clear mascara or opt for the YoungBlood Brow Artiste Sculpting Pencil to make sure they stay in place.

3. Line your lower lashline with a white eyeliner

Take your white eyeliner and line the inside rim of your lower eyelid makes your eyes more wider and awake. A great one I can recommend is the Jane Iredale Eye Pencil in white. Our advice? Never use a liquid liner there or a regular pencil liner as it may be too harsh. Choose a khol or gel eyeliner instead.

4. Curl your lashes, twice. Don’t forget the mascara as well!

By doing this, it helps the lashes stop smashing against the lense, as well as giving you the extra left they need to frame your eyes. One mascara which gives a full-on flutter is the YoungBlood Mineral Lengthening Mascara, the brush acts as a curler to lengthen your lashes.

5. If you want the focus on your eyes, down play the lips and cheeks

Whether you take this advice or not is up to you. However, if you want the focus on your eyes, choose a soft pink or nude lipstick instead of bright shades of coral or red. A moisturising lip gloss that leaves a beautiful is the Jane Iredale Lip Fixation™ lip gloss in Craving. Otherwise, if you choose to ignore this rule, play up your lips and cheeks for some extra vibrancy – and we’ll recommend Jane Iredale Lip Fixation™ lip gloss in Passion.

6. Make sure you blot the area where your spectacles sit

If you’re wearing foundation, tinted moisturiser, BB or CC cream, make sure you blot the area with powder to keep your base in place.
