Phototherapy for acne

July 1, 2017

If you suffer from acne, you might have heard of Phototherapy. Phototherapy  is a non-invasive procedure that uses light in different wavelengths and ranges to kill the bacteria that causes acne. The light also assists in the treatment of inflammation and redness.

How does it work?
Phototherapy is used to calm inflammation and kill the bacteria that is stored in the sebaceous glands. Phototherapy light is used to open the pores and exfoliate the skin to allow light to penetrate below the surface of the skin. The light attacks the sebum and causes a chemical reaction that is able to destroy the bacteria.

How long does it take?
The procedure takes around 20 minutes per session.

What are the results?
