FAQ's

What is Thermage?

Thermage is a highly trusted technology that uses radiofrequency energy to induce controlled heating in the deeper layers of the skin. This heating causes the collagen fibres to contract for a lifted appearance, but it also stimulates the collagen fibres to regenerate themselves to strengthen, tighten and lift the skin.

What does Thermage do?

Thermage lifts and tightens sagging skin, improves elasticity in the skin and restores a more youthful strength to reduce the signs of ageing.

How long does a Thermage treatment take?

It depends on the size of the area being treated, normally about 1 ½ hours for the full face.

When will I start to see results from Thermage?

The neocollagenesis process (production of new collagen) takes place over 2-3 months after treatment and gradually reaches maximum results about 6 months after treatment. The treatment produces new collagen inside your skin, but your natural ageing process will dictate how long that translates into visible results on the outside.

Which areas can Thermage treat?

We use Thermage to treat the full face.

How long will Thermage results last?

The full results will appear about 6 months after treatment as the collagen regenerates and rebuilds itself. From this point, the skin will have a stronger base than it did before the treatment, and starting from a stronger base, the natural ageing process over the following 6 months will be slowed down.

How can I maintain Thermage results?

We recommend treatments every 6 months to maintain results and achieve incremental improvement with each subsequent treatment.

Is there any downtime following a Thermage treatment?

There is no downtime associated with Thermage. Some clients notice minor swelling and redness, but this is only temporary.

Does Thermage hurt?

Because this treatment uses higher levels of energy than other skin tightening treatments, it can cause some discomfort, which is alleviated by appropriate pain management and topical cooling. Most clients find this treatment tolerable enough to return for maintenance sessions.

How much does Thermage cost?

Treatments are $3,350 for the full face.*

How is Thermage different to Ultraformer or Ultherapy?

Thermage uses radiofrequency energy, as opposed to laser energy or ultrasound. Radiofrequency energy cannot be focused to such specific depths as ultrasound. Thus, it requires an increased amount of energy to reach to the desired depths and achieve similar results. Due to this, some clients find it to be less comfortable than other skin tightening treatments.
