What are Medical Injectables?

Medical injectables are injectable treatments for medical conditions such as excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and teeth grinding (bruxism).

The product used in treatment is the same solution that is commonly used for anti-wrinkle injections. Due to TGA regulations, we are not allowed to publish the name on our website, but you may contact us to find out which brands we use.

How do medical injectables work to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)?

When injected into the correct places, the anti-wrinkle solution works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals to the glands that stimulate sweating.

The most common areas for treatment are the hands and underarms. The treatment time is short and the needle used is very small, so there is very little discomfort involved.

How do medical injectables work to treat teeth grinding (bruxism)?

When anti-wrinkle injections are administered into the masseter muscles that control the jaw, they partially block the nerve signal to the muscle, causing the muscle to relax. Masseters are one of the strongest muscles in your body, so you can continue to speak and chew after treatment, but some of the tension is removed to reduce clenching and grinding.

Do the injections hurt?

The treatment time is short and the needle used is very small, so there is very little discomfort involved. You may feel a small pinch while the needle is in for each short injection, but there is no associated pain after.

How long does a medical injectables treatment take?

The treatment is relatively quick. We offer 15-30 minute appointments which include time for consultation, cleansing and prepping the skin, and the treatment itself.

You will be invited for a complimentary follow up appointment 2 weeks after treatment to ensure that you are happy with the results.

When will I notice results?

You may notice some results a few days after treatment, but it takes two weeks for full results to become apparent.

What results can I expect?

In the two weeks following treatment, your jaw muscles may slowly start to feel less tense and the clenching and grinding should cease.

How long do the results last?

This can vary between people. Results for hyperhidrosis treatments last 4-12 months, and the results for bruxism treatments usually last about 4 months.
